Stobart buys London Southend Airport

Haulage company Stobart has agreed to acquire London Southend Airport for up to £21m and said it will raise £11.5m through a share placing.

The group will buy Southend airport from Regional Airports for £21m of which £5m will be due on achievement of certain aspects of the airport's development.

The initial £16m consideration will be satisfied from the placing process and a vendor loan of £6m. It will place 15.7m shares at 73p each.

"The board of Stobart believes that the acquisition of Southend Airport is in line with its multi-modal strategy, air becoming the final component alongside road, rail and sea," said the group.
