Nomura rides with Red Knights

Nomura, the Japanese investment bank, will advise the Red Knights on its possible bid for Manchester United.

In a news release today, the Red Knights said the bank would work with them and with the Manchester United Supporters Trust "to coordinate and formulate the proposal to be put to the Glazer family".

The Red Knights said the Nomura team would be led by Guy Dawson and Andrew McNaught, both of whom advised the board of Manchester United Plc when the club was sold to the Glazer family in 2005.

The statement added: "Nomura is beginning its role by contacting the many expressions of financial support the Red Knights have received to date. Further announcements in relation to the anticipated process and timetable will be made in due course."

The Red Knights claim to have received pledges of up to £1.5bn from 60 wealthy individuals.
