New head for business schools

Professor Huw Morris, dean of Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, has been elected chair of the Association of Business Schools (ABS).

Prof Morris, who is also pro-vice-chancellor for enterprise at MMU, said these were challenging times for business schools because of cuts in funding, competition from other providers, complaints about the role of business schools in the banking failures and financial crisis, “and a changing world where climate change and shortages of commodities in many areas are forcing new ways of thinking and operating”.

The ABS represents 100 business schools in the UK.

His weekly, “Thank Frank it’s Friday” email missives, “Frankie Says” blog and Tarantino-inspired advertisements are cases in point.
